Wood paddles are made from five to seven layer plywood. They are extremely durable but heavy and can weigh up to 14 ounces. Because they are solid wood, they don't provide that trademark pop common to composite and graphite paddles. Wood paddles definitely satisfy the need for an extremely durable paddle, but they don't provide the fun of the lightweight composite and graphite paddles.
